Staying in Flow through great changes

Times are changing. We are all feeling it.
Many people are feeling their life changing at this time: how we used to define ourselves is no longer relevant, what was familiar and comfortable, no longer fits.
Some of us are struggling to cope in the ‘same-old, same-old’ life and feeling stuck as they know they have changed inside but everything looks the same on the outside. There doesn’t seem to be an alternative. Nothing is clear. Who are you if you are not…(that ‘thing’ that you were before?)
It’s a challenging time of surrendering to the void, to the “I don’t know” and letting go of everything that no longer serves you. This change, that can be very chaotic, is necessary in these times of great transition. Try not see it with fear but rather with compassion for yourself and the enormous growth you are experiencing. The key is to surrender to that space of not holding any definitions of yourself at all. No “I am….this or that” …just being.

And if you allow yourself to enter into that space and stop trying so desperately to grab and cling and distract and fill and remake the crumbling tower…then you will finally find the silence and peace of being empty.  And then …something can be born out of the ashes of what you have released. Because now there is space and the universe will always fill a void. You have the opportunity to become whole.

Let yourself be gently pulled towards what your soul wishes to express. Do not try to define it or capture it in words…simply let it be free to coil like tendrils into the creative force of life.
You are divine.
You are love.
You are the Creative force of Life.

Mary Magdalene and the authentic feminine experience

IMG_E0338

Mary Magdalene is very ‘present’ now as it is time to embody the power and wisdom of the Divine Feminine/ daughter Sophia, and express this in our everyday lives. This is not to downplay the glory of the masculine, but rather to lift both up to the status of divine grace.
This means owning your minds, your bodies and your hearts in their true, authentic nature, whatever that may be. A unique expression of life unruled by social norms and expectations, either by your families or other women or men or by your culture or even your own limitations on what you allow yourself to be. Ultimately it means taking responsibility for all that we are and all that we create.
The ‘story’ of Mary Magdalene has been greatly changed to suit the theology of whoever has relayed it, edited it, confused it or simply excluded it. In essence she portrayed the divine concept of unconditional Love and acceptance and dedication. Her loyalty and willingness to be humbled by the divinity of her beloved are great lessons for all of us. The initiation of her passion for Christ, washing his feet with her ointments and tears, was her surrendering to her soul’s desires and releasing the ego. However in the bigger scheme of things she played out the divine Sophia energy whereby she exalted her earthly passions and desires into divine spiritual perfection.
She has come forward again to assist us on our own unique journeys to control our passions and desires and lift them to the GREAT DIVINE LOVE OF ALL. Not just our family and friends but everyone and everything we share this world with: our animal friends and all the sentient beings in nature…to know, understand and love ALL of nature: our own nature and the Mother around us who gave us our life.
For a long time woman have experienced being told who they are and what they could and could not do, but rather than resist, we are being asked at this time to create anew, unlike anything that has come before in any time or space. To forge a new path of our own.We are all people in a collective consciousness but we are also unique beings of Light. What is your unique presence? Allow the magdalene energy to flow through you once more.
How does it want to be expressed in this NOW?
(Thank you MM for your teachings and your love)

The Ascension Journey: The 3 stages of Soul Clearing by Lady Nada – Channeled through Natalie Glasson. 9th February 2018

“The most beautiful spiritual practice that I can share with you and which we encourage on the inner planes 8th Ray of Light is to become familiar with whom you are in each given moment, without judgment or expectation. It is a sacred and loving acceptance of all that you are, which offers an in-depth insight into the ascension process your soul is moving through.

Stage One

Your soul is currently exploring expansion. The first stage of cleansing your soul is currently experiencing is the process of releasing, receiving and embodying the space of the Creator. This is a very beautiful process because your soul is releasing and letting go of many energies, perceptions, wounds, patterns and limitations that it has carried through many a lifetime. This process of release takes place through your soul expanding its energy at an earthly physical level and a spiritual inner planes level. It is a great moment of celebration, your soul is ready and feels safe to magnify and multiply its energy, thus enhancing its power. As your soul expands releasing and letting go of unneeded energies so its vibration quickens and an experience of liberation dawns. Your soul is free to exist without limitations, merging more fully with all aspects of your being, Mother Earth an d the earthly reality while also exploring the Universe of the Creator. Remember that you are the Creator therefore you fill and exist within everything. Your soul is exploring its connection with all that is the Creator and embodying the truth of the Creator. This is extremely invigorating, activating and pleasurable for your soul because your soul is journeying through remembrance of all that it is as an expression of the Creator.

Through expansion, your soul is creating space to receive, collect and embody more of itself and the Creator. Your soul is exploring the abundance, fulfilment and wholeness of the Creator, awakening and drawing these sacred energies into its core. All that your soul is experiencing on the inner planes and the Earth is filtering into your physical body. The vibrations, consciousness and shifts taking place in higher aspects of your soul are impacting every part of your being and life upon the Earth. You have the ability to draw these energies and the joy the higher aspects of your soul are experiencing into your being and existence now.

‘I am speaking to all aspects and levels of my soul. As you move through a process of releasing, receiving and embodying the space of the Creator, I surrender all that I am to daily receive the benefits of my soul’s current expansion journey and progression. I am an embodiment of the highest truth of my soul upon the Earth now. Thank you.’

Stage Two

Quickening of lower vibrations. Your soul is delving deep into the lower vibrations of all that you are. Your soul is empowered and is carrying magnified light into stagnant, lower vibrational energies within your being and within other embodiments of your soul on the Earth, simultaneous lifetimes and on the inner planes. Your soul is anchoring so much light into lower vibrations of your being that all that is your soul is vibrating, pulsating and becoming powerfully energetic. This is encouraging higher aspects of your soul to quicken, becoming powerful beacons of light. As your entire being, reality and soul vibrate at a quicker rate, so the Creator showers you in blessings, light and love. This is immensely empowering as it enhances your feeling of being supported and loved unconditionally by the Creator. Your soul soars synthesising and remembering the Creator, establishing new connections and showering your being with such positivity, truth and excitement. Your physical self and personality begin to release with ease all perspectives of lack and pain, as there is an overwhelming feeling of being loved and supported by the Creator that creates a beautiful flow and fulfilment to your life and existence upon the Earth.

Due to the current cleansing mission of your soul, you may feel negative or painful energies becoming more visible within your being as your soul vibrates the light into lower energies to transform them. At the same time, you may experience empowering feelings of being loved, supported and blessed, as your reality flows with ease and perfection. It may feel as if your dreams are manifesting in your reality. Be aware that you may swing from recognising the pain within your being to feeling completely fulfilled and loved. This will be natural at this time, and there is a need to simply accept that your soul is working on a very deep level for the greater good of your ascension.

Stage Three

Your soul is contemplating and experiencing its wholeness. Your soul is magnifying all the beautiful Creator qualities it recognises itself as, sending waves of these sacred qualities into your entire being. Due to this, you may experience surges of energy, emotions or feelings moving through your being at different times throughout your day. Such surges could cause confusion as from nowhere you may find yourself feeling blissfully happy or deeply connected. You may also experience inspiration to take action in your life or to develop certain skills and abilities. This is a beautiful process as it will allow you to become more familiar with the sacred qualities at the very core of your being and essence.

To contemplate and experience the wholeness of your being your soul will begin to download light vibrations from Ascended Masters, Archangels, Goddess Beings, Dimensions, Inner Plane chambers and so much more. This is a way of activating new beautiful Creator qualities within your being and at the core of your soul. As new light vibrations from throughout the Universe of the Creator penetrate your soul and entire being, remembrance of the wholeness of your being will dawn, with new previously unrecognised qualities and abilities emerging to be observed and accepted. When you experience energies flowing and pouring into your being, know that it is your soul contemplating the fullness and wholeness of your being. It is a time of celebration and awakening of all that is your truth.

Please know I, Lady Nada, am present to support you in the cleansing and evolution of your soul,

Lady Nada

The Female sexual energy- Untamed

Shakti: the very essence of Divine Creative Energy.

It is up to all of us, individually, to reclaim this creative life force by simply owning our own divine personal sexual expression….with free abandon! 🙂

The Divine Feminine energy encapsulate  and manifests THE Creation life force. When we allow this life force energy to flow, we move into a better state of health, vitality, receptivity and creativity. This is a very personal healing journey (centred around the sacral chakra) that many women are experiencing at this time.

Reclaiming the Goddess within is sacred work!

(Art gifs by George Redhawk)

For when the divine feminine and divine masculine energy come together in equality, we create a sacred union and become whole. We hold both energies within and thus this process happens within each person! but is also symbolically expressed between persons.

We all hold aspects of the Divine Feminine within and thus we are able to call in and hold the qualities of love, beauty, acceptance, receptivity, gentleness, nurturing kindness, intuition, priestess devotion and insight and the stored memory of the ages. When we are able to bring these gifts into a sacred union with our Divine Masculine energies of order, form, organisation, action, confidence and assertiveness, we are able to manifest our whole Truth. This sacred union gives birth to a new positive energy which can find positive expression in the world.

We can see all kinds of dysfunction in our world when we lack balance within.

On a daily basis, we allow, accept and even perpetuate many myths, negative imagery and limiting beliefs about the female sexual energy and the female form. This disrespect towards women and the feminine energies has also resulted in widespread rejection of the wisdom of the heart, gentleness and the healing arts…now finally starting to change. There are many, many ways women are taught to feel guilt and shame for their own powerful form and sexual energy. The female sexual energy is often seen as a source of power that needs to be harnessed, controlled, hidden, ‘fixed up’ or suppressed in one form or another. these are some examples I can think of..

  • The female form is overly distributed in it’s naked form so as to desensitise and cheapen it’s beauty. To make it seem trashy and ‘easy’ and objectified for pleasurable gratification. Pornification of the female from and sexual union.
  • Societies may force the submission of the feminine power by demanding it be hidden in some way through overt or discreet dress codes, enforced through disapproval and judgement. Women can be banned from certain areas due to her ‘uncleanliness’ or ability to distract.
  • Western mythology has attached female sexuality to Original Sin (Eve). This shame can run very deep within the psyche and cause confusion around the archetypal roles of the Mother/Madonna/dove and the prostitute/whore/snake, particularly when women become mothers.
  • Some women (and some men in certain industries) feel that the natural female form is not perfect just as it is and needs some form of adjustment, either surgical or structural.  Women can feel the pressure for the push up bra, high heels or even cosmetic surgery to enhance the ideal shape or remove the imperfections.

To become more aware of how we are personally giving away your own feminine energy and power is a good first step. To observe how we are not owning our Truth and power.

We are all energy connected to ALL. When we allow your own perceptions of our human sexuality to shift in a more positive way and step into our own sexual expression, we affect the consciousness of the whole human collective. Healing our wounds and moving forward into Grace and Honour of who and what we truly are: Creative beings.

You are a Life Force of Divine feminine creative energy!

Own it.

Be it

Express it.  …in your own unique way!

and have fun 🙂

2018: A Message to your Heart

DSC_3194.JPG

A message to your heart:

You’ve learned many things over the last few years!

  • You’ve been to classes, read inspiring posts and informative books, watched videos and gained A LOT of knowledge about what you are interested in.
  • You’ve heard and read and thought a lot about following your own path and doing what makes you happy and giving yourself care and time, just for you. (You even made some meditation attempts which were pretty impressive, considering.)
  • You’ve had a lot of thoughts and encouragement about changing that ‘stuff’ (friendships, job, location, habits etc) that just doesn’t feel right any more.
  • You’ve been through A LOT and come through the other side, stronger, wiser and knowing more about yourself and what you are capable of.
  • You’ve changed.
  • You’re pretty awesome.
  • You’re ready.

In 2018…it’s time to start applying all this knowledge.

In honour of our 3D Selves -from a multidimensional perspective

Me as a child of Mother Earth

“I am a pure channel of Love.”
This is what I say to myself each morning. I imagine myself expressing love through my thoughts, words, actions, creations and vibrations. I also offer this love to myself in the same way….as much as I can…..And there lies one of our great learnings I think.
As we share our inspirations and get inspired by others with the in-breath, we berate ourselves and others for one thing or another on the out-breath. We happily offer advice with compassion, forgiveness and love. But when it comes to ourselves? we find it harder to demonstrated the same level of patient kindness and understanding. We are our own greatest critics!
All of this judgement is just an expression of the persona I am wearing. My persona judges itself and everyone else based on my perceptions of realty built up from my genes, my memories and social and societal expectations. It judges in a vain attempt to understand and define itself, and so does every other human persona around me ….and so on and on the wheel of life turns, feeding on itself.
How to get out of this matrix? Well, that’s easy: you die. It’s nature’s way to re-start a new record rather than get stuck in the same groove eternally. But you’ll probably only choose to come back into form and have to start over. So the answer is not to get out of the matrix but instead to be the Avatar master of it.
Because I am not my persona, and neither are you.
It is the mask we chose, (definition of persona here) before we were born…just as we chose our parents, our country and the colour of our skin. We chose our ‘nature’ and the environment we would be nurtured (or not) in…and we did all this choosing before we came here to this (seemingly) physical existence. And just as we can not change the colour of our eyes (without technological assistance), we can not change (although we can transmute) the core of the persona we came in with.
What we can do is raise our level of consciousness and better manage the parts of our persona that we feel need managing. Self mastery, the first step of all students of esoteric knowledge, is understanding the persona and assisting it in any way we can, just like we might bandage a weak wrist…but we can’t deny the sore wrist is there. That just gives resistance (and thus energy/power…and more pain) to what we are trying to ignore! And we can also support the parts of the persona that assist us in our growth. We can nurture them and enhance them just like exercising a muscle that we want to build up.
I am responsible for the management of my persona, for its words and thoughts and actions, but I am not my persona. Just as I am responsible for my young child’s (anti)social behaviours although he/she is not me or even ‘mine’ at all.
Lao Tzu said “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.” He was teaching us that our natural tendencies can get us in to trouble over time, if we allow them to be unmanaged. Every ripple of energy we send out, whether it is managed or not, returns to us and builds up the experience and thus perceptions of our life.
Our persona feeds our persona and makes manifest this persona’s world view. So we may as well master ourselves. Being truly accepting and loving of others requires full acceptance and love of ourself…not trying to change or deny parts of ourself. But truly offering unconditional love and acceptance …to me! So that I have the feeling of surrendering and allowing…no longer having to defend and protect myself (and therefor reinforcing all the things I want to change). Instead I am allowed to relax.
The next step is to release the illusion of the persona itself.
Our persona/identities are all just illusions of energy: interacting, reacting, triggering and being triggered. You can spend years analysing the illusion of yourself if you wish. It can be very insightful to look into the patterns of what triggers you emotionally and why. As long as you then move on from the maze of this analysis of analysis.
And just think, without this energy we call ‘persona’, where would humanity be? Imagine a world without personalities. Imagine we were all bodies and brains but had no quirks and tendencies? and what would be the point? How could we possibly grow if we were not all energetically affecting each other within all the fun and games of this play. This is what Dante and Shakespeare (Saint Germain) meant by the Divine Comedy and all the world being a stage..
And thus…who are we then, to judge another? …that is the question 🙂 To take arms against a sea of troubles? ie: give it back…and then some! Or simply smile with the divine perfection of the play(ground) we find ourselves in.
I AM
I am truly the silent witness that watches this divine comedy all from within, and knows me inside out. Without judgement and without interference. I am the spirit moving through the persona. The BEing from within this mind/body, watching the day to day through the lens of my persona. Just as this silent state of consciousness is simultaneously watching/experiencing through the lens of everyone and everything around me.
Observing this play but with no mirth or disdain. Simply watching.
And waiting.
Patiently
For us to wake up from being a puppet on auto-pilot in the wild performance we call ‘Life’. To grow in awareness and finally see the set and the lighting and the big, red curtain.
And this knowledge: that I AM that which is behind and impregnated within this mind/body that is called “Francine”, allows me to relax.
Breathe. Surrender.
More and more I allow that silent presence to no longer remain in silence. But rather to come forward and reveal itself from where it has always resided in full view.
To be..through me!
And so my persona can stop it’s manic cycle of defending and protecting itself. Of trying to understand and define itself. I can simply allow my Higher Self/expression of what I truly am, to flow through the persona that I had always identified with, but never truly was. It was simply my beautiful mask, chosen by me for a very good reason. And I am grateful for this mind and this body and this personality for all that it has allowed me to do, see, experience and learn.
This essentially is what we mean by ‘Awakening’ and entering into a ‘5th dimensional realty’. We don’t actually float off into a New Earth. We become the New Earth. We embody the 5D energies, not by ignoring our 3D realties, but rather by allowing the Absolute to flow through them. And not just the 5D, but multi-dimensions. For once you allow this Light-body to seep into all aspects of you, you have more and more access to ALL. For it is in fact the Universal Life Force within ALL and thus knows All, So that the very persona that we were trying to overcome, becomes the very vehicle through which we express our divinity.
The point is to uniquely and creatively express the light we have been absorbing and embodying…in a physical way. To ground it. This is ‘being of service’ in this physical manifestation.
And surprisingly, in this ‘space’ of 3D existence that offered us the illusion of separation and subdivision, we find redemption, enlightenment and finally, liberation.
When we become ‘of service,’  we are One and there is no separation, and therefor judgment of anything within Unity is irrelevant. You are then in the stream of Divine will rather than persona/ego will and there is no need to manage yourself at all. We turn from being actors on the stage to being the ushers on the other side of the curtain/veil, holding the torch and lighting the way to the exits.
And we knew this before we came!
And in this context, I see that I made some very good choices for my 3D self after all 🙂 and I love her and forgive her.
I am a pure channel of love
I AM
I
Ohm
(with gratitude to Saint Germain for these lessons)

Dream – the calico cloth

So, I had a dream, clear as day. It is a plain and simple one.

There was a piece of unbleached calico cloth all folded neatly with a sash piled loosely on top.

It kind of glowed.

It was a long piece of material with a slit in the middle. I put my head through the slit and the material fell down the front and back of my body. Then I wrapped the gold sash around my waist to pull the material in around my whole body.

That’s it.

It feels important somehow but I don’t know what it means.

I felt watched, in silence.

The dressing was ritualistic, with reverence.

It feels very significant.

The Feminine Christ

So funny when your feed validates your own learnings 🙂

“The Feminine Christ holds the template of an all-embracing inclusive love. The Feminine Christ honours all of life and recognizes each life form as perfect, loving all without conditions. The Feminine Christ radiates a fierce tenderness that is highly protective. She births a flame in the heart of unconditional love. This flame opens us to new energetic gateways/pathways for our consciousness to flow through. Gateways and pathways that have been blocked by patriarchal religious systems for the last 2-3 thousand years.”

Mary Magdalene -how, where and when did we get it so wrong?

Been encouraged to read and study the life, the surrounding story/ message and the woman herself: Mary Magdalene…for my own healing and then to assist others with the teachings and healing energy when ready.

Mary M

The Gospel of Mary is a fragmented document (missing pages and passages) dated to the early 5th Century and is currently housed in the Museum of Berlin (within the “Berlin Papyrus”) since 1896. It originally showed up in an antique store in Akhmin, Egypt. It is written in Sahidic Coptic language (an ancient Egyptian language spoken up to the 17th century).

The gospel of Mary was based on an earlier text dating from the early 3rd century. There are remnants of this earlier text (the Rylands Papyrus 463).

However these are all copies and the very first Gospel of Mary was most likely written about 150 (estimated by W.C Till). To be frank, people’s own prejudices have affected what we can learn about Mary and each time texts are copied, we can assume they may have been altered in some way to reflect the teachings of those that wanted a ‘copy’ made.

Why was it hidden? Why is it not part of the New Testament? Well, that’s a long and complicated story.

Christians weren’t really liked in the early days as they were seen as threats (to the status quo) and fanatics (watch the movie Agora to see this fictionally portrayed ). The area had it’s religions: The Jews had their own sects (Pharisees, Saducees and Essenes) ,and the Greeks and Romans had their Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses (Hellenists). No-one really wanted them and the Romans even put them in the Colosseum with the lions  (see Gladiator 🙂 So they went underground, literally and started using symbology (for example the fish). Read this gospel entry Acts 9 about Saul meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus to see/notice the difficulties within and without all the factions of Christians, Jews and “Hellenists’. Gospel Entry

It was in 325 in Nicaea (Eastern Roman Empire/Byzantine era/ modernTurkey) that Emperor Constantine  decided that the Roman Empire should be Christian (Theodosius I proclaims Christianity as the sole religion of the Roman Empire in 380 AD) and brought all the representatives of the different Christian factions together to nut out a common belief system/declaration)  in what is known as the Council of Nicaea (read the beginning part of the excellent book by Richard Fidler “Ghost Empire’ 2017) to bring this his-story to life). There was a massive discussion and much disagreement about who and what Jesus was/is…the son of God or man? Is he equal to God or below ‘Him’? And therefor, what was he made of? They came up with an ingenious idea of the Holy Trinity! You can hear (a later version through Latin and then English) of the Nicaean creed recited by the congregation during any Catholic mass to hear the resulting doctrine: He was ‘begotten, not made and is One with the Father’.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
Maker of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

(Source: http://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=495)

This is still such an important aspect of the Catholic Church. They changed it again to revisit the original meaning that had been defined in 325AD. In the new translation of the Nicene Creed, “consubstantial with the Father” replaces the expression “of one Being with the Father”, in speaking about the Lord Jesus Christ. The nature of the relationship between God the Father and God the Son, and the truth of the Son’s divinity, are most important aspects of the Christian faith. (Source:https://www.catholic.org.au/national-liturgical-council/faqs)

Anyone that disagreed, even some pretty powerful early ‘priests’ were exiled or worse. The point of sharing all this is to impress upon the reader how deliberate was the control of belief within the Church from it’s early beginnings. Men sat in council to decide what was and what was not acceptable to postulate to believers for the purposes of the Church ….and have pretty much continued doing this since 325 (up to the present debacle around Pedophilia). The idea of Jesus, the Son of God was a tightly controlled/censored concept that would be used to teach (preach) the doctrines and support the Church.

The reader may already see how the Dead Sea Scrolls gospels and the Mary Magdalene gospel would not at all fit within this doctrine. Catholics know this as ‘catechism’ and for others, doctrine means the codes of beliefs or a body of instructions, principles or positions, as the essence of teachings in a given branch of knowledge or belief system and it is where we get the word ‘indoctrination’.

Some gospels were chosen (and possibly altered or at least edited) and others were simply left out and destroyed. Luckily, some of these were hidden and found again in 1945 at Qumram (the area of the Essene ‘University’ or ‘library’ about 20km East of Jerusalem) as what is known as The Dead Sea Scrolls. The Gospel of Thomas is from this cache. The Essenes practiced asceticism, piety, voluntary poverty and daily ritual immersion in water, and some groups practiced celibacy.

Anyone who has read or heard the New Testament will have read that Jesus was the Son of God and was a loving man who was a shepherd of  lost souls and helper and healer to all. He welcomed everyone and helped everyone. He taught love for all and was gentle and kind and died “for our sins” so that we would be ‘saved’ and redeemed through God’s glory. In essence, we are taught that if we believe in Jesus, we will be saved (translated that through the Church, you will be saved).

The Nicaean creed says it all really. What he was NOT (according to the Bible) was a metaphysical teacher of ascension and spiritual Oneness. The gospels that were hidden and later found teach a very different message: The Divine is ti be found within you because we are created in the image of God.

And so we come to Mary Magdalene. Where does she fit in to all of this? Well, simply stop and ask most people what comes to mind when you think of Mary Magdalene and you’ll see the problem.

  • Who was Mary Magdalene? A prostitute

Many Catholics are shocked to learn that there is no biblical evidence that Mary of Magdala was a prostitute or public sinner…at all. In fact the Gospel of Mary paints her as a visionary, apostle and leader. Here is what we learn about Mary Magdalene from the 4 gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John:

  1. Mary Magdalene is the only woman mentioned by name in all four texts and her name, in all but one instance, is the first listed when there is mention of the women present at the event.
  2. The Gospels Mark (16.9) and Luke (8.2) also clearly indicate the Jesus heals Mary Magdalene by freeing her of seven demons
  3. She is one of the three, along with John the apostle and Mother Mary, who waits at the foot of the cross during Christ’s crucifixion.
  4. Mary Magdalene is the first to witness Jesus’ resurrection from the tomb (John 20-11, Mark 16-9, Mathew 28-9)

Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary and John

Indeed, she is mentioned no less than 12 times in the New Testament (let alone the hidden gospels)—making her the second most mentioned woman, after Mother Mary. Most references are found in the Crucifixion and empty tomb narratives, where she is portrayed as a loyal disciple at the foot of the cross and as one of the first witnesses to the Resurrection.

kebangkitan-pertemuan-dengan-maria-magdalena-setelah-kebangkitan

What else do we know about her?  Unlike other women in the Bible, Mary of Magdala is not identified in relation to another person; she is not anyone’s mother, wife, or sister. Instead, she is called Mary of Magdala, a centre of commercial fishing on the northwest bank of the Sea of Galilee. She was wealthy and she left her home to follow Jesus. Perhaps she financially helped to support Jesus’ ministry.

These female followers of Jesus were faithful and remained loyal when others had not. The four New Testament gospels agree: Mary Magdalene was faithful until the end.

In Matthew’s version (28:1-10) Mary Magdalene and “the other Mary” first learn of Jesus’ Resurrection from an angel at the tomb, who tells them to “go quickly and tell his disciples.” As they leave they are met by Jesus, who also instructs them to spread the Good News to the others.

Likewise in Mark’s account (16:1-8) Mary Magdalene is accompanied by Mary, the mother of James, and Salome to anoint Jesus’ body. But inside the empty tomb they find an angel who tells them Jesus has been raised from the dead. Again, Jesus first appears to Mary Magdalene, but when she tells the disciples, they do not believe her.

Luke (24:1-12) says the three women are Mary Magdalene; Mary, the mother of James; and Joanna, and that they first find the stone rolled away and are told by two men “in dazzling clothes” that Jesus has risen from the dead. The other disciples do not believe their “idle tale,” and Peter runs to the tomb to see for himself the burial cloths.

In John’s Resurrection account (20:1-18) Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb alone, sees that the stone has been rolled away, and runs to get Peter. What follows are parallel stories: Verses 3-10 describe how Peter and the disciple Jesus loved witness the burial cloths, but “they did not understand”; while verses 10-18 tell the story of Jesus’ appearance to Mary of Magdala.

“Woman, why are you weeping?” Jesus asks his beloved friend, who is lost in her grief. Mary Magdalene initially mistakes Jesus for the gardener, who had just asked the same question of her. But then she turns and in her recognition calls out, “Rabbouni” (meaning “rabbi” or “teacher”). Then Mary of Magdala goes to tell the disciples, “I have seen the Lord.”

In other texts, the ones not included in the Canonical gospels, we are given a broader understanding of Mary Magdalene who received teachings from Jesus that were not shared with anyone else, not even his disciples.

From Gospel of Philip:

“And the companion of the […] Mary Magdalene. […] loved her more than all the disciples, and used to kiss her often on her […]. The rest of the disciples […]. They said to him “Why do you love her more than all of us?” The Savior answered and said to them, “Why do I not love you like her? When a blind man and one who sees are both together in darkness, they are no different from one another. When the light comes, then he who sees will see the light, and he who is blind will remain in darkness.” (The Gospel of Philip is one of the Gnostic Gospels, \dated to around the 3rd century but lost in modern times until an Egyptian man rediscovered it by accident, buried in a cave near Nag Hammadi, in 1945., 2 years before the Qumran discoveries)

So why do some still think Mary Magdalene a prostitute? Well, it comes back to doctrine and men in positions of power making decisions of belief on behalf of their flock …or simply doing what we all do…use our own perspectives and beliefs to filter how we perceive people and events, even historical ones.

Mary Magdalene has been confused with several other women in the Bible, most significantly—and ultimately problematically—with the unnamed sinner in Chapter 7 of Luke. In that story, a woman bathes Jesus’ feet with her tears, anoints them with ointment from her alabaster jar, and dries them with her hair. When the Pharisees object, noting that she is a known sinner, Jesus admonishes them and forgives her “because she has shown great love” (Luke 7:47). Nowhere does it say that this woman was a prostitute, and nowhere is she identified as Mary of Magdala.  The anointing also confused many as Mary Of Magdela brings ointment to the tomb to anoint the body and so Mary of Bethany (Martha and Lazurus’ sister) who anoints the feet of Jesus. Additionally, the casting out of demons act, instead of imagining how cleansed she was afterwards, has also influenced Mary’s reputation as people chose to focus on the seven! demons themselves.

The longer and more complex story is that of the role of men in the Catholic Church and the treatment of women. Even the disciples didn’t like the idea of Mary being close to Jesus and most likely the decline of Mary of Magdala’s reputation began very soon after her death.

Then, on Sept. 14, 1591, when Pope Gregory the Great gave a homily in Rome that pronounced that Mary Magdalene, Luke’s unnamed sinner, and Mary of Bethany were, indeed, the same person.

You can get a taster of how men in positions of power within the church can interpret texts and have their interpretations become the interpretation in this excerpt from the same speech:

“But let us hear what is said to the women who came? Be not affrighted! As though he said to them: Let them fear who love not the coming of the heavenly citizens. Let them fear who, steeped in bodily desires, have no hope of belonging to them.”

To be fair to Pope Gregory, he also said:

This was actually repealed almost 400 hundred years later in 1969 but nobody paid much attention and even today, almost 50 years on,it’s generally unknown that Mary Magdalene is a saint.

Mary Magdalene’s feast day is on 22 July.

Alsemia 11 and the importance of atonement

 Alsemia 11

A nice gentle one in the day. Felt the energies in the heart and head.

But a few days later…hysterical crying over a song (not this one linked below but another similar one by Stellar.)

Much deeper hurts about criticism, humiliation being played out for me to see, understand and rise above (tried working through intellectually but simply got myself more entangled in all the useless thinking. Letting go of the ego layer by layer.

Feeling raw, refreshed. Washed.

Listened to Abraham. Understood.

Read about relationships. Understood.

Need to atone. Thinking only about my side of the story. Not taking responsibility. So hard to say sorry! But I am. Understood.

Ready.
